A Simple Thank You

Last Sunday, I brought in some chocolate eggs to hand out to the kids in my Sunday School class. While Miss Mary was telling the children the story, I put one on every napkin alongside the usual graham cracker and water. After the kids were finished with their snacks and everyone was coloring the coloring page, a boy came up to me and said in a very serious tone, "Are you the one that brought the chocolate eggs?" I said, "Yes". Then he looked at me with very sincere eyes and said, "Thank you."
It's funny how good that little "thank you" made me feel. I did such a small thing and didn't expect a thank you, but it really felt nice. I am going to learn from that little boy and make sure that I say "thank you" more often. . . especially to God. He is so good and I'm sure that when we take the time to say "thank you", He smiles like I did last Sunday.

1 Chronicles 29:13 "Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name."

Legoland

Today, we celebrated the last day of Spring Break by going to Legoland in Schaumburg. The kids had so much fun seeing the figures that were put together using Legos. They had a replica of downtown Chicago, a jungle scene, movie figures, and so much more! We even watched a movie in 4D!

It was a great way to spend the last day of Spring Break since it was sooo cold and rainy/snowy outside. (We are getting so much snow right now! It looks like a blizzard outside!! I honestly can't say that I am too thankful for that!)

Hard Worker

I'm thankful for my hard working husband. He has been working so hard all week at my sister and brother-in-law's car dealership. (This is his spring break) He's had to get up at 5:30 in the morning every day. He has also been teaching baseball lessons and helping coach Jake's baseball team in the evenings. Poor John kept falling asleep while we were reading to the kids tonight. He was sound asleep and snoring! (of course, I made him go straight to bed) Thanks, John, for working so hard to support your family!

Favorites on Fridays . . . Like Oprah's "O" List, But Not Really

10 Favorite Things to Buy at Aldi

1. Bags of raw and roasted almonds . . . sooo much cheaper!
2. Pistachios
3. Fit & Active frozen 3 berry blend
4. Fresh produce such as pineapples, grapes, and pears
5. Dark Chocolate
6. Low sugar jam
7. Batteries
8. Vanilla extract
9. Fresh flowers
10. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

**note** Many of the items at Aldi contain high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. I go to other stores to buy bread, applesauce, peanut butter, yogurt, ice cream, etc. because of this. I'm hoping that they will start carrying more of my favorite healthy foods. Aldi really does save me a lot of money!!

Some other of my favorite things to buy there are toothbrushes, fabric softener, mozzarella sticks, bagged salads, veggies, some cereals, laundry detergent, dish soap, and more! Happy shopping! (We live about a tenth of a mile away from an Aldi. So convenient!)

Luke's Un-Birthday

Luke had a coupon from our coupon book that he needed to cash in and the kids and I thought this was the best time for him to do that! The coupon stated, "It's NOT your birthday, but redeem this coupon and we'll pretend it is!" So. . . it was a good thing that Luke slept in until 9:00 this morning because Jake and Caroline got a chance to prepare the decorations and put their finishing touches on the cake. They found things out of their rooms that they thought Luke would like and wrapped them. Luke was a happy little boy today. We even went to eat lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. We met my mom, Auntie Diane, and little Caleb there, too!

Luke was mesmerized by the "lava cake" Auntie Diane bought for him. (we all shared it, obviously)

I love you little Luke! Happy Un-Birthday to you!!

No Foolin'

Happy April Fools Day!! For some reason, I just couldn't get into the foolin' mood. I was going to try to come up with something clever to do to the kids, but everything I came up with seemed downright mean. ("Hey kids! . . We're going to Disney World! . . .just kidding. . .April Fool's!") Where is my sense of humor?!

Anyway. . . Jake is feeling much better. The blood test came back and it was negative for Mono. . . yay! We managed to even get out of the house and go to the pet store. Now we all want a certain Corgi puppy that we played with in a little room. We all fell in LOVE with the little thing. Maybe someday.

Well . . . I need to go get ready for a big party that we are having for Luke tomorrow. I'll tell you about it in my next post. :)
